For the time being, I'm writing on a different computer. First time in nine days, slightly random, and there's a pretty good chance I'll be kicked off before I can finish. In which case, I'll simply transfer, but this simple change reminds me that nothing has to be constant about journaling. It encourages me to write spontaneously, which is a positive, which just switches things up. Another change: I'm not in a dark room writing alone. My 12-year-old brother is making some kind of jokingly sobbing noise. His presence can be remedied should the necessity arise.
Anyway, I'll just see if this makes any kind of change to the entry as I continue. It sounds like I might not be writing in here much longer.
Today was a day full of a couple of firsts. Most recently, I got my braces tightened. So it's already been a month that they've been on, and I had almost completely forgotten they were in. Now it's a little more obvious, but I can eat pretty normally. No holdbacks at all, really. Just a little bit of a tight feeling.
I also may have wrapped my first broken bone. I've had many a limb sprained, but never broken before. I've been having to limp, so that's a little annoying, but I'll get over it. The worst part was that I couldn't lift today, and I won't be able to work my lower body for a while. I haven't been able to work out a full week since before break, which is frustrating, but this too will I soon get over.
School wasn't great, two tests in rapid succession: one of which I had no answers I was sure about, and one that I had no hesitations upon. This was a nice illustration of my scholastic mentality, as one was the chemistry test and the other was a Spanish test. I prepared for the chemistry and winged the Spanish, but the results were highly counter-intuitive. I'm funny that way. Studying usually degrades my chances of doing well on a test. This has been a constant: for (occasionally bluffed) surprise homework quizzes, chapter tests, and even midterms and finals. The counter-intuition of this counter-productive habit itself is counter-intuitive: study less, do better; study more, do worse. Whodathunkit?
Homework was minimal, but I had to read a history assignment that took me from the chaos of the Whiskey Rebellion to the impact mutual between France and America during the French Revolution. Like I've said before, I love history because it's basically story-time. Except the stories are true and only just a little fantastical. George Washington, President of the United States, leading an army into battle? That sounds like a medieval method of laying siege to a castle, not characteristic at all of late 18th century America. Fortunately, his aides eventually convinced him to turn around or it could have been likely that our primary founding father may have hit an inconveniently early demise. I wonder how different America would be today if he had fallen that day..?
George Washington kept a "diary," by the way, as the textbook called it. At his headquarters in Morristown, a tour guide said that he never went anywhere without a ball in his hand. He would play catch with his generals! The same tour guide also said that he could have played any modern day professional sport, and I'm not surprised considering that with a little speed and athleticism his 6'3.5" and 220 lb frame could have definitely taken him places. Pretty awesomely well-rounded guy, right? Not that any of you thought he was already impressive.
I spent a lot of time with my brothers and dad today. Dad picked us up shortly after school ended and we went to the library to study and work on homework for a while. Then we went to the dentist's office for a procedure that took about five minutes, and probably cost us ten dollars a minute. After that, we went to Dick's and I got some new running shoes. It was a little difficult to size because of how swollen my left big toe was, and I couldn't really get an accurate gauge on how I run in them, but they seem good and I'm excited to see how they work once I put them to some real use. Then we went to this closeby pizza shop and I ate three square slices of baked ziti pizza. That was good.
Homework done, belly fully, mind lazy, I sat down to journal and pounded what you've read out. And it looks like I've written one of my fastest entries and just chilled out enough to summarize my day. Bringing you the boring qualities of my every day life, I hope you're still breathing and have survived the boredom. It's magnificent the physical duress this journal can withstand. It's truly remarkable, not even once has it complained. Give it all a hand, ladies and gentlemen.
And you can know my other readers are really applauding YOU.
Congratulations and handshakes all around.
God bless America.
Good night Jersey!
(should this one even be on Facebook?)
